Biography

E.-Martin Meunier is a full professor in the School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies at the University of Ottawa. He has held the Chair in Quebec, Canadian Francophonie, and Cultural Changes since 2011 and has been the director of the Research College on the Francophone World from 2019 to 2023. His research interests focus on sociology, Quebec society, sociology of religion, and social historical analysis of French Canada. Over the past 15 years, Meunier has been leading a major research project titled 'Towards an Exit from Cultural Religion for Quebecers?' which includes a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative survey conducted in Quebec from 1968 to 2021. He has authored over 75 scientific contributions, including a collaboration for 'Catholicism and Cultures: Cross Perspectives Quebec-France' and an edited volume 'Quebec and Its Cultural Changes'. Additionally, he co-directs the '21st - Society, History and Cultures' collection at the University of Ottawa Press and is an associate member of the Groupe Société Religions et Laïcité (École pratique des Hautes études/CNRS, Paris). Meunier is actively involved in various scientific committees for well-regarded journals in the field.
