Dr. Eamonn Butler Mcintosh

Biography

Eamonn is the Deputy Head responsible for leading strategic development and delivery of Learning and Teaching within the School of Social and Political Sciences. He is a professor specializing in Central European Politics and Security within the Central and East European Studies subject area. His research interests include political and security developments in Central Europe, with a focus on the Visegrad group states and the role of these states within European institutions such as the EU, NATO, and OSCE. He has previously concentrated on European Union enlargement and post-accession policy matters, with recent research centered on energy security in the Central East European region. Eamonn has held various roles including Postgraduate Taught Programmes Convenor and School PGT Quality Assurance Officer, and has played a significant role in developing the university’s Security Studies master's degree programmes, collaborating closely with international partners on projects like SECUREU.
