Dr. Ebrahim Afsah

Biography

Dr. Ebrahim Afsah is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen specializing in Public International Law at the Centre for European, Comparative, and Constitutional Legal Studies since joining the faculty in 2012. He has significant professional experience in governmental consulting, particularly in the Middle East and Central Asia. His research interests include public international law, with a particular focus on the law of armed conflict, public law, administrative constitutional law in post-conflict settings, and Islamic law, especially public law in underdeveloped regions. Afsah has a distinguished academic background, having trained at institutions like the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, Trinity College Dublin, and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, alongside fellowships at the European University Institute in Florence and the Norwegian Academy of Science. His teaching includes courses in Islamic Law, Legal Philosophy, and European Law at the University of Copenhagen and previously at the University of Vienna, where he engaged in various advanced seminars and visitations. Besides his teaching, Afsah is also involved in the production of online courses related to constitutional struggles in the Muslim world, contributing to the establishment of comprehensive educational outreach.
