Biography

Ed Tate's research lies at the interface of organic chemistry and life sciences, focusing on chemical biology and chemical proteomics. His work emphasizes the design and application of chemical approaches to understand and manipulate living systems, particularly in relation to important disease processes. His group conducts research on medicinal chemistry and the chemical synthesis and modification of proteins and peptides. Ed has received prestigious recognition for his research contributions, including the Wain Medal Lecture Prize and multiple awards from the Royal Society of Chemistry. He also played a role in founding Myricx Bio, a spin-out company based on his research. Ed obtained his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Durham and completed his Ph.D. in organic chemistry methodology at the University of Cambridge. He has held various academic positions, progressing from Senior Lecturer to Professor of Chemical Biology and recently appointed as GSK Chair in Chemical Biology.
