Biography

Eda Celik joined Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in the summer of 2024. She received her B.S. (2001), M.S. (2003), and Ph.D. (2008) degrees in the Department of Chemical Engineering from the Middle East Technical University, Turkey. During her Ph.D. studies, she spent a year (2005-2006) at the University of Manchester, Faculty of Life Sciences, working with Prof. Stephen G. Oliver. From 2009 to 2011, she worked as a postdoctoral associate at Cornell University under the mentorship of Prof. Matthew DeLisa. In Turkey, she joined Hacettepe University and was promoted to associate professor in 2020 in the Department of Chemical Engineering, affiliated with the Bioengineering Division of the Institute of Science. She has received several notable awards, including the EU Marie-Curie Career Integration Grant (2012) and the UNESCO-L’Oréal National Fellowship for Young Women in Science (2014).
