Dr. Eda Tibet

Biography

Eda Elif Tibet is a Social Visual Anthropologist with a focus on critical sustainability studies, currently serving as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Geography, University of Bern. She has directed award-winning documentary films and operates her own label, Karma Motion. Her academic work involves examining relations through postcolonial thought and mobilities, applying critical pedagogies and non-formal education strategies. She is also an advisory member of the Enacting Global Transformation Initiative at the University of Oxford and a founding member of ETHNO KINO, an ethnographic film screening program in Bern. Tibet's research intersects with various themes, including participatory action research, social movements, and the promotion of co-creative methodologies. Her educational background includes an MPhil in Social Anthropology from the University of Kent and a PhD from the University of Bern, which was funded by SNSF. Eda's publications include journal articles on issues related to migration, climate, and social justice, reflecting her extensive fieldwork and dedication to bringing transformative methodologies into academic and practical frameworks.
