Biography

Eddy Man Kim is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Human Centered Design at Cornell University, where he focuses on the intersection of design and technology. He has experience in architectural, web, media, and experience design, and has led academic programs with completed projects in digital media, computational design, and product development. In 2014, he was awarded the George N. Pauly, Jr. visiting professorship and served as the Director of the Computational Design Lab and Associate Teaching Professor at Carnegie Mellon University until 2023. Kim co-founded openUU, a design research agency in Hong Kong, and served as its Technical Director, where he managed projects that received multiple awards in the design industry, including four Best-of-Year Awards from Interior Design magazine. His teaching experiences include positions at the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Interior Design Association. Kim's works have been featured in various media outlets including Interior Design Magazine and CNN, and he holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University and a Master in Design Studies from Harvard University with a focus on Design Technology.
