Dr. Edieal Pinker

Biography

Edieal J. Pinker is the BearingPoint Professor of Operations Research at Yale School of Management, where he also serves as Special Advisor to the Dean. He previously held the position of Deputy Dean for Strategy from 2016 to 2025. Pinker earned his PhD and MS in Operations Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his BA in Mathematics from Columbia University. His research interests encompass predictive modeling in healthcare, utilizing machine learning methods and demographic analysis of the Jewish community. Additionally, he has explored management topics such as the use of flexible workforces and work and workflow design in healthcare, as well as online auctions and responses to terrorist threats. Pinker has served on the editorial boards of leading journals in the fields of Management Science and Operations Research. His consulting work includes projects for the United States Postal Service and the financial and auto industries. His academic contributions have been published in various prestigious journals including Operations Research, Management Science, and others. Pinker has also written extensively on a range of topics including healthcare policy and operational analytics.
