Biography

Edme Dominguez is an Associate Professor in Peace Development Studies at the School of Global Studies at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science with a specialization in Soviet Union-Eastern Europe from the Institute of Political Studies in Paris. Her research has primarily focused on Soviet foreign policy in Latin America and issues surrounding regionalism, particularly in relation to NAFTA and gender implications. Since the early 1990s, she has published extensively on gender issues concerning citizenship and labor organizing as well as the political participation of women in Bolivia, El Salvador, and Mexico. Recent projects include analyzing women’s political involvement under quota systems in Bolivia and exploring the intersection of ‘tradition’ and ‘modernity’ in women’s political participation in the highland regions of Bolivia. Dominguez brings significant teaching experience, having taught in multiple countries, including Mexico, Spain, and Sweden, on subjects ranging from gender economics to international relations and global political economy.
