Biography

Edmond Chow is a Professor and Associate Chair at the School of Computational Science and Engineering, part of the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has previously held positions at D. E. Shaw Research and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Professor Chow's research interests focus on numerical methods, particularly in numerical linear algebra and high-performance computing applied to scientific computing, data science problems, and various mathematical models. His expertise includes partial differential equations (PDE), quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics, Brownian/Stokesian dynamics, inverse problems, data assimilation, and uncertainty quantification. Additionally, he is interested in Gaussian processes and machine learning. He received the 2009 ACM Gordon Bell Prize and the 2002 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). Furthermore, he is a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).
