Dr. Edouard Coupet Ii

Biography

Edouard Coupet II, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor in Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine and a core faculty member of the Program in Addiction Medicine. A board-certified physician in emergency and addiction medicine, he focuses his research on expanding access to addiction treatment within acute care settings, particularly in emergency departments. His work aims to address health equity and disparities, focusing on socio-economic, racial, and ethnic factors that influence access to evidence-based addiction treatments and the prevention of assault-related injuries. Coupet has received funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the Emergency Medicine Foundation to support his research initiatives. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and completed his medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Following medical school, he underwent residency training at the Jacobi/Montefiore Emergency Medicine Program and later pursued a fellowship in Emergency Care Policy and Research at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also received a Master of Science in Health Policy Research. Dr. Coupet is dedicated to the development of emergency department-based interventions that specifically cater to vulnerable populations affected by substance use and violence.
