Dr. Eduardo Aquino

Biography

Professor Eduardo Aquino holds a PhD from Universidade de São Paulo and has a rich academic background with degrees including a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University and a Bachelor of Architecture from Faculdade de Belas Artes in São Paulo. He is currently a Professor at the University of Manitoba's Department of Architecture and has concentrated research interests in History and Theory of Architecture, Urban Theory, and Urban Design and Public Space. He actively explores the interconnections between architecture and the landscape, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches that intertwine architectural history, cultural history, and critical theory. His doctoral research focused on 'Beachscape: Rediscovery of Public Space at the Beach,' investigating the urban beach model and its implications for architectural design and public interaction. Professor Aquino has taught various subjects including Architecture, Urbanism, and Fine Arts, and he advocates for applied research that bridges art, architecture, and urban dynamics. He is also involved in projects that facilitate dialogues about the influence of new technologies and craft techniques in contemporary urban settings, enriching our understanding of modern culture and the city.
