Dr. Eduardo Bonilla Silva

Biography

Eduardo Bonilla-Silva is the James B. Duke Distinguished Professor of Sociology at Duke University, where he has been a key figure in the field for over 20 years. His work primarily focuses on racial theory and methodology, exploring critical issues related to race and racism, particularly in the context of globalization. Bonilla-Silva's extensive publications delve into color-blind racism, racial stratification, and the implications of race in the United States. He has contributed significantly to theoretical advancements in the understanding of racial hierarchies and the dynamics of race and human rights. His ongoing research includes a co-principal investigator role on a National Science Foundation-funded initiative aimed at reshaping computer science education through a racial equity lens.
