Biography

Eduardo Eyras is a Group Leader at EMBL Australia and a Professor at the Australian National University (ANU). He develops computational methods to study transcriptomes and epitranscriptomes alterations in cancer using long-read sequencing technologies. Prior to joining ANU, he worked at the Sanger Institute from 2001 to 2004 and was a group leader at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain from 2005 to 2019. During his tenure, he developed methods to annotate RNA alternative splicing in genomes and contributed to landmark analyses of the human, mouse, rat, chicken, and cow genomes. His research program is focused on applying Machine Learning in RNA biology related to cancer.
