Biography

Eduardo Alberto Fernandez Cerna is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Brock University. He holds a Medical Doctor degree from the National University of Honduras, a Master’s in Health Sciences (Public Health) from Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, and a PhD in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University. His professional experience spans over 12 years in teaching and research, focusing on participatory research related to vector-borne diseases, health surveillance, and environmental health. He is actively involved in teaching various courses in Public Health, including Pharmacology, Global Health, Pathophysiology, and Pandemics. His research interests include developing predictive models for dengue fever, environmental health impacts, and the treatment and vaccine development for infectious diseases affecting the Americas. Additionally, he collaborates with community organizations through the Network of Volunteer Food Advisers in the Niagara Health Region.
