Biography

Eduardo M. García-Molina is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Classics. He completed his B.A. at the University of South Florida, M.A. at Florida State University, and Ph.D. at the University of Chicago. His research focuses on the Seleukid Empire, exploring the development of imperial bureaucracy, ideology, and recordkeeping practices in antiquity. He investigates Graeco-Roman historiography, political thought of states and empires, epigraphy, numismatics, and Hellenistic law. Currently, he is engaged in a monograph examining how material conditions and information technologies influenced the realization of law and order in the Seleukid Empire. Additionally, he examines the reception and translation of ancient history in video games, having presented work on gamification in interactions with ancient states and religions, and the material culture represented in games such as Total War, Elden Ring, Pokémon, and World of Warcraft.
