As a sociologist, I conduct research on sustainability issues with a focus on societal dynamics, drivers, and conflicts that shape the plausibility of climate futures and ecological transformations. I studied International Relations at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP) and Political Science at the University of Göttingen, critically engaging with social and environmental issues across various governance levels. During my PhD in Sociology at the University of Hamburg, I investigated the diffusion of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Brazil and how non-state actors from science, civil society, and the private sector engage with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), implementing the global agenda in local contexts despite challenging circumstances. My dissertation was published by Routledge as a book titled "Non-State Actors Sustainable Development Brazil: Diffusion 2030 Agenda." From June 2020 to October 2024, I served as a Senior Researcher in the excellence cluster "Climate, Climatic Change, and Society" (CLICCS) at the University of Hamburg. As a co-editor and co-author of the Hamburg Climate Futures Outlook, I developed a new methodology for assessing the social plausibility of climate futures, coordinating evaluations of global consumption patterns' plausibility towards climate neutrality. My main research and teaching concern how societies respond to the global ecological crisis—particularly climate change—and what societal factors facilitate or hinder sustainability transformations. I am particularly interested in issues of social inequalities, climate justice, and global consumption patterns.
