Edward Chan is a Postdoctoral Fellow in China Studies at Australian National University and an Associate Editor for the China Journal. His research focuses on international relations, particularly China’s foreign policy, East Asian security, and the historical and political aspects of Chinese maritime governance. Edward is the author of "China’s Maritime Security Strategy: Evolution and Growing Sea Power" (Routledge, 2021) and has published articles in journals such as Asian Security and Global Change, Peace & Security. Originally from Hong Kong, he moved to Australia in 2005 and is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese.
