Edward J. Coyle received B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1978, and both his master's and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University in 1980 and 1982, respectively. Between 1982 and 2007, he was a faculty member at Purdue University where he served as assistant vice provost for research and co-director of the Center for Wireless Systems Applications. He co-founded the Vertically-Integrated Projects (VIP) program and participated in the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) program. Coyle became a Kenan Trust Visiting Professor at Princeton University for the 2006-07 academic year. Joining Georgia Tech in 2008, he currently holds the Arbutus Chair in Integration Research Education and is a Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar, as well as the director of the Arbutus Center for Integration Research Education. His research interests include Computer Sensor Networks, Signal and Image Processing, and Engineering Education, with numerous accolades for his work in experiential learning and integrating practical projects into education.
