Biography

Edward J. Delikatny, Ph.D., is a Research Professor in the Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on non-invasive detection of metabolic changes occurring during tumor development and response to anticancer drugs, specifically in models of human breast cancer. Dr. Delikatny utilizes a variety of imaging modalities, including near-infrared fluorescence optical imaging, MRI, MRS, and PET Cerenkov imaging. He is active in the design, synthesis, and characterization of near-infrared optical contrast agents for the detection of phospholipase and choline kinase expression in tumors, and for monitoring pH and redox changes in the tumor microenvironment. His work aims to identify potential biochemical markers for early tumor detection and to correlate these findings with near-infrared optical imaging. Dr. Delikatny is also known for pioneering Cerenkov imaging and developing novel radiolabeled probes for dual PET and optical imaging applications.
