Biography

Edward Hubbard is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research centers on educational neuroscience, particularly the neuroimaging behavioral studies in school-aged children. Prior to his appointment at UW-Madison, he received extensive training in cognitive science and psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts, followed by a Master of Arts and PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Hubbard completed a post-doctoral appointment in France at INSERM, where he investigated the neural basis of numerical and mathematical abilities using cognitive neuroscience methods, including functional MRI and EEG. His work has significantly contributed to understanding how educational experiences shape cognitive processes, especially in the early stages of formal mathematics education among children. He has presented his research at various conferences and has been actively involved in mentoring undergraduate research at his institution.
