Dr. Edward Mair

Biography

Edward Mair is a historian specializing in Early American History with a focus on slavery, empire, and Indigenous peoples in the United States. He completed his PhD at the University of Hull in 2019 and has lectured at Liverpool John Moores University, the University of York, and the University of Cambridge. Currently, Edward is a lecturer in the Department of History at King's College London, where he teaches various modules related to North American history. His expertise includes public engagement, where he has offered commentary to media outlets on the contemporary political situation in the U.S. His selected publications reflect his research interests, such as reconsiderations of racial slavery in Seminole society and the roles of Black go-betweens in Florida during the early 19th century.
