Biography

Edward Margolin is a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto, where he has established a busy clinical practice in neuro-ophthalmology since 2007. He specializes in complex cases and trains ophthalmology and neurology residents. He completed his medical degree at West Virginia University and his residency in ophthalmology at McGill University. Furthermore, he undertook a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at the University of Michigan under noted mentors. Dr. Margolin has been active in teaching, having received the Teacher of Ophthalmology Award in 2011 and the Individual Postgraduate Teaching Award from the Whitman-Berris Academy in 2013, as well as the J.S. Crawford Award for being the Most Popular Teacher in 2017. His engagement extends to presentations and lectures both nationally and internationally. His research interests are primarily in understanding the mechanisms and treatment of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy and the development of effective delivery methods for postgraduate education in neuro-ophthalmology. He also leads a large multi-center project focusing on neurodegenerative diseases and has developed a neuro-ophthalmology strabismus fellowship.
