Biography

Edward Obbard is an Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at UNSW Sydney. He obtained his PhD in Materials Science in 2010 from the Chinese Academy of Science, Institute of Metal Research. His research focuses on nuclear materials engineering, applying fundamental knowledge of materials to solve industrial problems related to nuclear manufacturing engineering. Edward's research interests also include the development of new materials technology to enhance the safe and sustainable deployment of nuclear energy, and he employs innovative methods such as virtual reality tools for remote handling and blockchain systems for nuclear materials tracking.
