Biography

Edward Parmentier has performed throughout the United States, Russia, Western Europe, Japan, and Korea on harpsichord and historic organs. He is a frequent recitalist, lecturer, and adjudicator at various symposia and festivals. His collection of recordings has won both critical and popular acclaim, with recent releases including Bach’s partitas, 17th-century French harpsichord music, Scarlatti sonatas, and works by English virginalists. Parmentier appears in ensemble settings as a continuo player, concerto soloist, and conductor of modern instrument chamber orchestras, focusing on performances of Baroque and classical repertoire. He also leads annual summer harpsichord workshops at the University of Michigan, attracting performers from around the globe, and has studied under renowned harpsichord teachers such as Albert Fuller and Gustav Leonhardt.
