Edward Rubin is a professor emeritus in Environmental Engineering Science and Engineering Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. He is a founding member of the Engineering Public Policy Department and served as the founding director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Studies and the Environmental Institute. Rubin is a Fellow Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and has received the Carnegie Mellon University Distinguished Professor Engineering Award for his outstanding achievements in engineering research, education, and public service. His international work includes coordinating as a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), for which he was a co-recipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, and advising the Alberta Energy Ministry in Canada.
