Dr. Edward Watson

Biography

Teddy Watson has been providing advice and practical support to teams at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, covering areas such as Admissions, Careers, Executive Education, and Projects Office within the Dean’s Office since 2008. In his multifaceted roles, he has been involved in general consulting, interviewing MBA candidates, and providing career advice to students. He has co-sponsored numerous strategic consulting projects, primarily focused on rural economies in Africa, helping students in starting their own businesses. Teddy brings with him an extensive 35-year career in the insurance industry, 20 years of which were spent as director and chairman of reinsurance broking and underwriting operations across cities like New York and Copenhagen. He has specialised in treaty reinsurance, especially in credit risk, and has worked closely with insurers, reinsurers, governments, and multilateral agencies worldwide. His contributions have been pivotal in key industry developments, including the privatisation and consolidation of the credit insurance industry. Currently, he leads a major new project aimed at enhancing the teaching of the Chinese language in the UK as the Executive Director of the Swire Chinese Language Foundation. Additionally, he serves as the Chairman of Sensonomic in Norway and is a retired member of the council at Radley College, where he founded the prestigious Wallace Watson Awards at St Catherine's College, Oxford.
