Biography

Edwin Cey is an Associate Professor and Department Head in the Department of Geoscience at the University of Calgary. He holds a Ph.D. in Earth Environmental Sciences from the University of Waterloo, which he completed in 2008, along with a Master of Science in Earth Science and a Bachelor of Engineering in Engineering from the same institutions. Cey's research primarily focuses on understanding hydrologic processes that control the movement of water contaminants in the shallow subsurface. His work employs a blend of field, laboratory, and numerical techniques to analyze the dynamics of water quality and flow patterns, especially in relation to microbial transport and groundwater-surface water interactions. He was awarded the Great Supervisor Award in 2018, and he has also earned the Early Career Teaching Excellence Award from the Faculty of Science in 2016, among other honors.
