Edwin Jager is a Professor and Head of the Division of Sensor Actuator Systems at Linköping University. He earned his M.Sc.Eng. in Applied Physics from the University of Twente, Netherlands in 1996, specializing in transduction science, and subsequently received his PhD in Applied Physics from Linköping University in 2001. His doctoral research focused on the development of biomedical applications of polypyrrole microactuators for microrobotic systems. Jager co-founded Micromuscle AB, a spin-off company that commercialized medical applications of polypyrrole actuator technology. He transitioned back to academia as an assistant professor in the Organic Electronics group at Linköping University's Department of Science and Technology and later became an associate professor in Biomedicine. In 2023, he was promoted to full professor. Jager has held a visiting professor position at the University of Wollongong, Australia, and has received numerous awards for his research, including the Junior Faculty Prize for building a sustainable research environment and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science fellowship for research conducted between 2015 and 2017. His research interests include electroactive polymers, soft microactuators, bionics, and the integration of polymer actuators in medical devices.
