Biography

Professor Edwin Kan received his B.S. from National Taiwan University in 1984 and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1988 and 1992, respectively, both in electrical engineering. He served as a lieutenant in the Air Force in Taiwan from 1984 to 1986. In January 1992, he joined Dawn Technologies as Principal CAD Engineer. He worked as a Research Associate at Stanford University from 1994 to 1997, focusing on CAD technologies and numerical methods. In 1997, he joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, first as an Assistant Professor and later as a Professor. His research interests have shifted towards RF biosensors for senior care since 2014. He teaches graduate courses on Semiconductor Memories and RFID, as well as undergraduate courses including Introduction to Microelectronics and Digital Circuit Design.
