Biography

Edwin Romeijn is the Jill Stewart Archer Family Chair Professor at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics (Operations Research) from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1992 and has an M.S. in Econometrics from the same institution. His research focuses on optimization theory and its applications, including radiation therapy treatment planning and supply chain management. Dr. Romeijn's work aims to create new models and algorithms for effective treatment planning for cancer patients and to optimize supply chain processes, emphasizing production, inventory, transportation, and dealing with uncertainties. He has taught courses in stochastic processes, optimization, simulation, and supply chain engineering, mentoring 25 Ph.D. students and numerous visiting graduate students. His contributions to the field are recognized through various awards, including being named a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences. He has published extensively in leading journals, contributing to research that bridges the gap between theory and practical applications in operations research.
