Biography

Eelke Heemskerk is a Professor of Political Networks at the Political Science department of the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR), part of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. He received his PhD from the Amsterdam School of Social Science Research in 2006. Eelke has worked as a research fellow at the German Institute AIAS and has been a visiting fellow at prestigious institutions, including the Institute for Strategic Management at Ludwig Maximilians University and the Center on Organizational Innovation at Columbia University. His research focuses on corporate governance, corporate elites, social networks, and institutional reform in the Netherlands and Europe. Eelke is particularly interested in big data related to networks of corporate ownership and control and directs the ERC funded CORPNET research group, which examines the influence of social networks on boardroom decision-making and behavioral aspects of corporate governance.
