Dr. Eero Vaara

Biography

Eero’s research focuses on strategic institutional change. He is a world-leading expert in discursive narrative perspectives. His work addresses strategy process practice research, studies of radical change in mergers and acquisitions, and explores institutional change legitimation, with an emphasis on multinational corporations, nationalism, and globalisation. Eero combines practically relevant topics in strategy work and management, particularly in post-merger integration, with deep theoretical and methodological reflections on organisational strategic processes and practices. He has published extensively and served in editorial roles for leading scholarly journals. Eero's research interests span four key areas: strategy process practice research, radical organisational strategic change, institutional change legitimation, and multinational corporations. He attempts to understand the communication, discourses, and narratives that organisations use to construct organisational reality, especially through critical discursive perspectives. Recently, Eero has engaged in historical analysis. His research has appeared in prestigious journals, earning awards such as the Roland Calori Prize for his paper published in Organisation Studies and the OMT Published Paper Award in 2014. He has been honored with the JIBS Silver Medal for Significant Contributions to International Business.
