Biography

Efe Peker is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Political Science at the University of Ottawa. He holds a joint PhD in History from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Sociology from Simon Fraser University. Peker completed a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at McGill University from 2017 to 2019. His research interests include state-religion relations, secularity, and immigration diversity, as well as nationalist-populist politics from a comparative-historical perspective, particularly focused on Québec-Canada and Western Europe. He is the Director of the research axis on Populism, Diversity, and Social Cohesion at the Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche sur la citoyenneté et les minorités at the University of Ottawa and collaborates with the Observatory on Populism Canada.
