Biography

Eftychios Sifakis is a Professor in the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has been a part of the department since January 2011. Prior to his current role, he served as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he was jointly appointed in the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science. He completed his PhD in Computer Science at Stanford University under the supervision of Ron Fedkiw. Dr. Sifakis completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Crete in Greece, earning a B.Sc. in Computer Science and a B.Sc. in Mathematics. His current research interests focus on computer graphics, physics-based modeling and simulation, and scientific computing. He is particularly interested in developing algorithms and numerical techniques that enable efficient and accurate simulations of human body parts, with applications in biomechanics and virtual surgery. Throughout his career, he has published extensively in leading academic journals and conferences, contributing significantly to the fields of computer graphics and simulation.
