Biography

Ehsan Samei is the Reed Martha Rice Distinguished Professor of Radiology, as well as a Professor in the Departments of Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, and Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University. He also serves as the Chief Imaging Physicist at the Duke University Health System and is the director of the Carl E. Ravin Advanced Imaging Laboratories. His work focuses on bridging the gap between scientific scholarship and clinical practice, particularly in the fields of medical imaging and radiation dose optimization. He has published over 1400 scientific publications, including 400 refereed journal articles and has presented his research at over 600 conferences. Samei has held numerous leadership positions within professional organizations and has received several prestigious awards throughout his career, including the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Award from the International Organization for Medical Physics and the Jimmy O. Finn Lifetime Achievement Award from the Southeast Chapter of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. His current research interests include advanced imaging techniques, radiation dose reduction strategies, and the development of virtual clinical trials for oncologic, pulmonary, cardiac, and vascular diseases.
