Biography

Eike Schneiders is a Lecturer at the School of Electronics and Computer Science, University of Southampton, where he focuses on Human-Computer and Human-Robot Interaction (HCI/HRI) as well as Human-AI Interaction. Eike received his PhD in Computer Science from Aalborg University in November 2022, during which he investigated the role of robots in non-dyadic group dynamics. His research includes engaging with various stakeholders in multidisciplinary projects that intersect medicine, law, interactive art, AI, and animal welfare. Eike's ongoing work particularly addresses the impact of generative AI, including text-to-image models and large language models (LLMs), on the general public. He has been the principal investigator for the REGALS project, examining non-legal experts' willingness to rely on AI-generated legal advice, and serves as a co-investigator for the ART-I project, focused on the effects of generative AI within creative communities. Eike has received several awards for his research, including the UKRI TAS Hub Early Career Researcher Award and recognition at the ACM CHI conference for his contributions to designing multispecies interaction with robots. He remains actively involved in public engagement to raise AI literacy among diverse audiences.
