Biography

Eilidh is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health at the University of Glasgow. She hails from Canada and completed her PhD at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia under the supervision of Professor Alex Quinn. Her doctoral research investigated the intrinsic regulation of the heart's natural pacemaker and its effects on mechano-electric interactions in heart rhythm. In January 2021, Eilidh relocated to Glasgow to work as a postdoc with Professor Chris Loughrey, focusing on cardiac dysfunction. Specifically, she is working to understand the mechanisms of cardiac disease that lead to changes in heart architecture and function, whereby adverse cardiac remodeling results in heart failure and arrhythmia. Eilidh is passionate about the heart and enjoys unraveling the complex ways it self-regulates health and disease in performing its essential task of pumping. She is a member of the International Society of Heart Research, the Physiological Society, and the British Society for Cardiovascular Research.
