Biography

Ekaterina Dadachova is a Professor at the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition at the University of Saskatchewan and holds the Fedoruk Centre for Nuclear Innovation Chair in Radiopharmacy. She joined the University of Saskatchewan in November 2016. Prior to this role, she was a Professor of Radiology and Microbiology Immunology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, USA. Dadachova earned her PhD in Physical Chemistry from Moscow State University in 1992 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in radiopharmaceutical chemistry at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization in Sydney, Australia. Her research has pioneered treatments for infectious diseases and involves the use of radiolabeled antibodies for conditions such as melanoma, blood cancers, and osteosarcoma. Additionally, she explores the development of melanin-based radioprotectors for cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy, as well as for soldiers on the battlefield and astronauts in space. Her active research program is supported by multiple funding agencies including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Saskatchewan Health Research Fund, Canadian Space Agency, United States Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, and the pharmaceutical industry. In 2020, she received the Distinguished Researcher Award from the University of Saskatchewan.
