Biography

Ekkehard M. Kasper, MD, PhD, is an internationally renowned neurosurgeon and professor of neurosurgery at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. He has a deep mastery of surgical interventions for diseases and injuries affecting the brain and spinal cord, with particular interest in neuro-oncology, treating tumors of the brain, spine, and pituitary gland whether they are benign, malignant, or metastatic. He previously served as the head of neurosurgery and director of the brain tumor service at Hamilton Health Sciences Juravinski Cancer Center. Dr. Kasper also held the position of Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, where he was involved in clinical duties as well as research and medical education. He has been editorial roles at multiple scientific journals and has acted as a reviewer for numerous publications in the fields of neurology and neurosurgery. Dr. Kasper earned his medical degree from Albert Ludwig University Freiburg, Germany, and his doctorate from Oxford University. He completed his neurosurgical residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and pursued further training in clinical fellowship in stereotactic functional neurosurgery and radiosurgery.
