Dr. Elaine Worcester

Biography

Elaine Worcester is a nephrologist at the University of Chicago, where she serves as a Professor of Medicine. Her research focuses on the processes that contribute to kidney stone formation and improving prevention methods to avert complications related to abnormal mineral metabolism. Over her distinguished career, she has led numerous NIH-funded studies that investigate both medical and surgical aspects of stone formation. In addition, she has authored 145 peer-reviewed articles and co-edited a leading textbook in her field. Worcester is also heavily involved in mentoring young investigators and guiding trainees in their early career stages, participating in programs funded by the NIH and the American Society of Nephrology.
