Biography

Eleanor Stride is a Statutory Professor in Biomaterials at the University of Oxford, where she specializes in the fabrication of nano and microscale devices for targeted drug delivery. She earned her BEng and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University College London (UCL), completing her doctoral studies in the Ultrasonics Group in 2005. In 2011, she joined the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at Oxford, advancing to full Professor in 2014. Her research has garnered multiple recognitions, including the Philip Leverhulme Prize and the IET AF Harvey Prize. She has also made significant contributions to public engagement in engineering, featuring in initiatives like the BBC's Born Engineer series. Stride was named one of the top 100 influential women in engineering in 2016 and 2019 and has held various fellowships, including being made a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2017. Furthermore, she was honored as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2021 for her contributions to engineering and scientific outreach.
