Biography

Eleazar Eskin serves as the inaugural chair of the UCLA Department of Computational Medicine. His fascination with the intersection of computer science and biology has driven his research into developing computational methods for the analysis of genetic variations associated with human disease. The complexity of identifying millions of variants in the human genome requires the analysis of tens of thousands of patient samples. Dr. Eskin and his team work on solving challenging computational problems by developing new techniques to analyze these tremendously large datasets.
