Biography

Dr. Elena Greenfeld is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto. She completed her MD and PhD in Genetics at the University of Toronto in 2002. She has undergone fellowship training with the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists at the University of Toronto and has joined the Mount Sinai Hospital/Hospital for Sick Children program. Since 2004, she has been a staff member in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she serves as Co-Head of the Division of Diagnostic Medical Genetics. Additionally, Dr. Greenfeld holds an appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. Her research primarily focuses on the development and application of genomic technologies to understand the causes of reproductive failure. This includes the identification and characterization of copy number variation in infertile males, preimplantation embryos, and perinatal samples, providing insight into the mechanisms leading to infertility and abnormal embryonic development. Dr. Greenfeld has received notable awards, including the Governor-General Fellowship Award from the Leukemia Research Fund Canada in 2001.
