Elena Mas Tur is an assistant professor in the Technology, Innovation & Society group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Her main research lines include mathematical models of innovation, simulation models of diffusion, complex networks, and patentometrics. Elena’s research covers simulation models of complex networks in knowledge creation and collaboration, knowledge diffusion through word-of-mouth, social reinforcement, and factors motivating prosocial behavior such as altruism and reciprocity. Additionally, she investigates patent citations as indicators of the technological relevance of inventions. Key findings from her research show that patents can identify the technological relevance of innovations and reveal that successful performers tend to attract collaborators. Elena obtained her PhD in Innovation Studies from Utrecht University in 2016 and holds degrees in Mathematics and Statistics, as well as an MSc in Industrial Economics. She is a member of the International Network for Social Network Analysis and the International Schumpeter Society. Elena also leads a research project titled 'Academic Sleeping Beauties,' which examines the delayed recognition of breakthrough innovations and the factors influencing this phenomenon.
