Biography

Eleni Sikelianos is a professor in the Literary Arts program at Brown University. A native of California, she is an accomplished author of hybrid memoirs and poetry, with eight books to her name, including 'The Book of Jon' and 'Animal Machine'. In addition to her writing, Sikelianos is a translator and has published translations of Jacques Roubaud’s 'Exchanges' and Sabine Macher’s 'L notebook'. Her work draws on various biological resources and seeks a deep understanding of the animal past. Sikelianos has a rich academic lineage, having received her degree from the Jack Kerouac School, and has developed a diverse teaching portfolio, having served at the University of Denver where she founded the Writers Schools program. In her career, she has been awarded numerous residencies and grants. Her books have been translated into French and Greek, and her poems have been translated into a dozen languages.
