Biography

Born and raised in the medieval city of Siena, Italy, Eleonora Buonocore holds a PhD in Medieval Philosophy from the University of Siena (2009) and an MA in Italian Studies from the University of Notre Dame. She earned her PhD in Italian Language and Literature from Yale University in 2016. In 2017, she was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Italian at Colby College before moving to Canada. Between 2021 and 2022, she was a Fellow at the Calgary Institute of Humanities, focusing on her monograph about the concept of memory in Dante's Divine Comedy. She has received the Student Union Award for Excellence in Teaching at the University of Calgary and has published articles on various topics, including the works of Ramon Lull and Giordano Bruno, and a chapter on Boccaccio. Her current research includes the intersection of philosophy and literature in the Medieval world and early Renaissance thought, specifically the connections between knowledge theory and literary works, culminating in her book project titled "Dante's Memory: Fixity and Fluidity," submitted for publication to Cambridge University Press.
