Biography

Eleonora D'Elia is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Department of Materials at Imperial College London, where she has been teaching undergraduate courses since February 2018. She is actively involved in the development of outreach activities for the department, including summer schools and work experience programs, and plays a key role in organizing school visits and events. As a STEM ambassador and member of the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, she is committed to promoting diversity in science and engineering. Prior to this role, she served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Materials under the supervision of Professor Eduardo Saiz, focusing on projects related to self-healing and shape-memory composite materials. Eleonora obtained her PhD from Imperial College London in 2015, where her research concentrated on self-healing organic/inorganic composites and the characterization of graphene aerogels. Her academic achievements include several awards for her presentations at conferences and symposia, along with the prestigious Santander Mobility Award in October 2015.
