Dr. Elham Mousavian

Biography

Elham Mousavian is a lecturer specializing in architectural structures at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Her research focuses on structurally-informed architectural design and the development of computer-aided design tools that are construction-aware and support complex geometries. She earned her PhD in Architectural Engineering from the Iran University of Science and Technology. Elham has collaborated with the Institute of Computer Graphics and Algorithms at TU Wien in Austria and was awarded a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship for her project ‘SiDMACIB: Structurally-informed Design of Masonry Assemblages Composed of Interlocking Blocks’. She has a background in teaching and organizing courses aimed at integrating structural design principles early in the architectural design process. Her teaching emphasizes the importance of understanding form-force interactions and adapting modern structural methods within architectural contexts. Elham is also involved in several international research projects related to interlocking masonry assemblages and has collaborated with various institutions across Europe.
