Elias Méndez Domínguez received his M.Sc. degree in telecommunications engineering from the University of Vigo, Spain, in 2007, and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Zürich, Switzerland, in 2018, where his dissertation focused on urban change detection using synthetic aperture radar (SAR). He joined the Sensors and Radar Technologies Unit at the Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Italy, in 2008, and subsequently worked with Thales Nederland B.V. in Delft, Netherlands, under the FP7 Marie Curie Program in 2009. In 2010, he became part of the Remote Sensing Laboratories at the University of Zürich in the Computational SAR Group, SARLab. He became a group leader in 2023. His research interests include radar waveform diversity, advanced pulse compression, and SAR processing. He thrives on the combination of research and education, sharing his passion for radar remote sensing and exploring complex environments using drone, airborne, and spaceborne SAR to develop methods for extracting valuable insights from data. The mix of technical challenges, field campaigns, and interdisciplinary collaboration makes his work at RSWS exciting and meaningful.
